Local Area - A Place of Special Scientific Interest

Riverside Paddock Camp Site is an area of Special Scientific Interest by the Medina Estuary on The Isle of Wight. The river is used by yachtsmen as a safe harbour. Along the banks of the Medina there are many old warehouses and wharves where in the past flying boats, hovercraft and steam ships were built and developed.

The Classic Boat Museum displays much of the river's history. The Island Harbour Marina, an old tidal mill, is also located on the river, about 1 mile from Newport - View Wikipedia Article HERE.

Our camp site is home to a range of island wildlife including Dragon Fly, Egret and Woodpecker and is an outstanding location for astronomy and star gazing. See our wildlife page HERE.

We are on the main cycle track (route 23) and we are ideally located for walkers and cyclists. With miles of stunning countryside at the gate of the campsite and access right across the island via the cycle track.

Many of the most famous and historic Isle of Wight tourist attractions are within easy reach including English Heritage sites such as Carisbrooke Castle and Osborne House, and we are perfectly located for camping for The Isle of Wight Festival. View the Isle of Wight Official Tourism Website .

We look forward to welcoming you to Riverside Paddock.
